GETTING ON WITH THE JOB

The New Dawn government has only been in office for a short while. During this time, we have been focused on delivering real change to the people of Zambia and living up to the promises we made during the 2021 election. So far our work has been centred on:

FIXING THE ECONOMY

  • After years of failed negotiations under previous administrations, the New Dawn government secured a staff level agreement with the IMF for a $1.4 billion (K25.2 billion) extended credit facility to help tackle Zambia’s debt.

  • Since the New Dawn came into office, inflation has nearly halved, credit ratings have been upgraded and revenues are up.

PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE

  • Since the New Dawn government came into office inflation is down, making it easier for families to afford food and other necessities.

  • In 2022 the government is scaling up the Social Cash Transfer Program to reach more than one million households, as well as increasing the transfer amount.

  • Allocations to the Food Security Pack Program have also increased as we work to reduce the cost of living by transforming the economy.

IMPROVING THE LIVES OF ZAMBIANS

  • Under the New Dawn government primary and secondary education is now free; over 11,000 healthcare workers are being recruited; and K1.46 billion has been released for social protection programs.

  • The New Dawn government is using funds recovered from anti-corruption cases and increased revenues to invest in a better future for Zambians.
