The Republic of Zambia and the European Union have joined forces to organize the EU- Zambia Economic Forum 2022. This first edition of a high-profile EU-Zambia business event, under the auspices of H.E. President Hakainde Hichilema, will take place in Lusaka from 18 – 19 May 2022, with a focus on green investment.

The event will bring together a wide range of entrepreneurs, experts, financial institutions, innovators and policy decision-makers from Zambia as well as from the European Union and its 27 Member States. The common goal is to generate private sector investments and business opportunities that foster economic growth and create jobs through exploring sustainable products and services within the green economy. The event will include high-level presentations, business-to-business (B2B) meetings, exhibitions and workshops.

Zambia, the land linked country in the heart of Africa, has always been famous for its beautiful nature, its abundant opportunities for mining, agriculture, tourism and for its charming people. The “New Dawn Government” under President Hichilema, brought to power through democratic elections in August 2021, has embarked on a course of ambitious political, economic, fiscal and social reforms, putting a high premium on private sector driven green growth and innovation.

The European Union and its Member States are Zambia’s longstanding economic and trade partners and stand ready to support these endeavours. The upcoming first edition of a Zambia- EU Economic Forum will be a great opportunity to explore new business partnerships and to learn more about the EU’s financial incentives for investing in the green economy.
